12th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We found that the service respected people's privacy and dignity and the registered manager told us they offer people choice in the care they want to received. One person said to us "Yes they asked me what they should to for me and what I wanted".

We saw that care planning took place with an assessment of needs and description of what should be done when providing care. We did find that more detail could be provided when identifying risk and that ways to minimise risk had been documented even if people declined to receive the care.

People were protected from risk of abuse as the provider knew what to be observant of and how to escalate concerns.

One person said to us "We get on like a house on fire".

The manager was supported in their role and was obtaining further qualifications to help perform in their role. People receiving care told us they thought staff who came to help them had enough skills and experience to do the job.

People were asked for their views on the service and the service acted upon feedback. One person had asked for help in purchasing a different type of food and this was documented and feedback to the manager for when they visited to give care.
