31st January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke to three patients who were very satisfied by the care they had received making comments such as "Fantastic, I'll follow him anywhere" and "The treatment was fully explained and turned out even better than I had hoped". We saw that the practice had collected comments using a patient survey and people had given the practice high marks for the services provided. This showed that people had expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment.

We were shown how medical histories were always updated and we saw this being done during our visit for several new patients. We were shown examples of treatment plans and saw that these were offered to patients.

There was a clear system in place which ensured that instruments were transferred, decontaminated, examined, sterilised and stored consistently. This showed that people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

Each staff member had their own copies of training in a folder which included practice policies and protocols. The provider had secured high standards of care by creating an environment where clinical excellence could do well.

Records were kept securely and could be located promptly when needed. Patient’s paper records were stored in a locked metal filing cabinet behind the reception desk.
