11th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with seven people who attended the practice for dental checks or treatment during our visit. One person, who was having a check-up told us they had been attending the practice for over 30 years and always had a good experience. They said the staff were “very nice”, the practice was clean and there was “no problem with waiting times”. They confirmed that their medical history was checked and that the dentist explained and obtained consent for treatment.

Another person, attending for treatment said they knew what to expect as it had been explained at their last appointment. They felt the practice was clean and that staff were “friendly”. They told us their whole family attended the practice and they were particularly pleased with the results after one of their children had orthodontic treatment to align their teeth.

The practice provided a range of treatments and sometimes referred people to other providers. It sometimes also received referrals for treatment.

Staff completed a variety of training, including safeguarding vulnerable adults and child protection.

The premises were safe and clean and equipment was maintained.

Checks were made before people started employment with the service. There were adequate numbers of staff for the service, Staff told us they felt supported.

There was an effective complaints system and the provider monitored the quality of the service. Audits were carried out and people who used the service were asked their views.
