We spoke with people who were positive about their experience of being treated at the practice. One person said: “He (the dentist) was brilliant when I had a problem.” Another person told us that they would never consider seeing another dentist.

People were given appropriate information and support regarding their care or treatment. Written treatment plans were provided, which explained details of people’s planned treatment.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. The dental practice had dedicated decontamination and sterilisation facilities. We observed correct practices for the decontamination and sterilisation process were undertaken.

We spoke with the practice manager about the arrangements in place for monitoring clinical staff’s professional status. We saw that checks were carried out on staff’s professional qualifications and registration on an annual basis.

Audits were regularly undertaken, looking at areas including waiting times, consent and record-keeping. Where audits identified areas for improvement, action plans were devised and implemented.
