16th December 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit we spoke with four people who used the service, five staff and the registered manager.

People we spoke with told us they were satisfied with the information they received. One person said, "Everything is explained and yes, I have a choice”. Another said, “The dentist explained what I needed”.

We observed that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people’s safety and welfare. One person told us they thought their dentist made them feel very comfortable and looked after their welfare. Another told us they felt the staff were “marvellous.”

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

There were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies and effective infection control systems were maintained to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

There was sufficient staff that had sufficient qualifications, skills and experience working at the practice.

There was an effective complaints system available. Two of the four people we spoke with told us they knew how to complain. One said they would speak to staff. Another told us they would ask the receptionist for advice but they had never had any issue so far.
