1st May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We observed people's experiences of arriving at the practice and interacting with the staff team, we noted that people were treated with dignity and courtesy at all times.

We found that people were involved in their treatment planning and were presented with all the treatment options open to them with associated costs.

Despite the service undergoing major refurbishment work at the time of our inspection we found that the reception area and the treatment rooms were clean.

Comments made in anonymous satisfaction questionnaires included, “Great pain free dental care and friendly.” Another person had stated, “Very good, we have needed two emergency appointments and have always been seen on the same day.”

We found that the staff team had not received some elements of basic core training relevant to their role. For example, fire awareness training so they were sure they were up to date with current practice and adult safeguarding so they knew how to recognise abuse and what to do about it.

People who used the service were complimentary about the staff team and considered staff had the right knowledge and skills to do their jobs safely. One person who had completed an anonymous satisfaction questionnaire within a couple of days of this inspection stated, “I have total trust in the staff’s practice which means a great deal to me.”
