31st July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our announced inspection on 31 July 2013 we spoke to the orthodontist, the practice manager, three members of staff and one person who used the service and two parents of people who used the service. We saw that the majority of people using the service were teenagers.

We spoke people who were visiting the practice during our inspection. People were complimentary about the service they received. One person told us; "Fantastic, the dentist is lovely."

People told us they were treated well at this practice and they were happy with the service provided. One person we spoke to said; "Staff are very polite, seem very well trained and know what they are doing.”

People told us that the practice was always clean when they attended. They told us that staff regularly washed their hands and always wore gloves and other protective equipment when they were being treated. One person said; β€œIt’s always very clean and tidy, staff are very professional.”

We saw that the practice had a comprehensive risk assessment process relating to potential hazards. These risk assessments included; equipment, electrical hazards, fire, x-rays, sharp objects and waste disposal.

We spoke to staff and it was clear they knew how to deal with complaints and that they could escalate them appropriately if they were not able to resolve the complaint themselves.
