18th June 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with five people who attended for treatment. All of the people we spoke with were very satisfied with the service. We saw that patients were spoken to in a respectful manner. Patients told us that staff at this practice were caring and friendly.

We spoke with seven staff including the practice manager, three dentists and three dental nurses. We observed a treatment and saw that staff treated people with courtesy, discussed medical histories with them and helped them to make informed decisions about their treatment. Patients we spoke with told us they felt the dentist listened to their feedback and provided a responsive service.

All of the patients who used the service told us that they felt safe with the staff at the practice. We found that all staff had knowledge of how to report and escalate safeguarding concerns of abuse in relation to vulnerable adults or children.

The practice met essential infection control quality requirements. However, we saw that milk for tea and coffee was stored in the same fridge as clinical materials.

We found effective systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of treatment being provided. People's needs were assessed and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual treatment plan.

We found that the practice was well led. The service identified, reviewed and managed potential risks. Regular audits had been completed and required actions had been taken.
