29th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with one person using the service who told us they were "kept well informed" during the course of their treatment plan. They said they were "happy" and the service was "brilliant". We saw a number of comments from feedback survey, some of the comments included ""staff always friendly" and "wonderful, efficient receptionist".

We looked at six treatment plans during our visit; these all contained either a treatment plan and medical history along with records of previous appointments. The dentist told us they used different techniques to help people make a decision about their treatment, including the use of an intra-oral camera for images and also models and leaflets.

The dental nurse demonstrated the process for cleaning the treatment room in between patients and also for decontaminating instruments. Records showed that staff had received infection control training.

We looked at three staff files during our inspection and saw that clinical staff had a current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks had been carried out on staff.
