18th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with the manager, three members of staff and two people who used the service. People told us the staff were very friendly and helpful. One person said "they are very nice and approachable and the surgery is always clean and hygienic."

People who use the service were given appropriate information and support regarding their care or treatment. People said that the dentist always explained treatments and costs before any work was carried out. People's health needs were taken into consideration before planning their treatment and arrangements were in place to deal with medical emergencies.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. The service was clean and well maintained. Staff were following current infection control guidelines and were adequately trained to minimise cross infection risks.

Staff received appropriate professional development in order to carry out their job roles effectively and meet the needs of the people using the service. The provider had an induction programme for new staff, arrangements in place for the regular training of all staff and annual appraisals had been carried out to ensure the training and development needs of staff were met.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.
