13th August 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During the inspection we found the dentist fully explained any necessary care and treatment with people to ensure they were fully informed before agreeing to and/or signing to consent to treatment. We also found the dentists clearly explained people's treatment choices, expected outcomes and risks.

We found the practice was visibly clean and the necessary decontamination standards were being met. We found the provider had a suitable complaints process and staff clearly understood the procedure for managing complaints. The complaints procedure was made easily accessible to people who used the service.

We spoke with one person who used the service; they stated "their dentist was the best they'd ever had" and were more than with the service. They also confirmed how well the dentist explained their intended treatment, the alternatives available and potential outcomes. They added the dentist would also ask for written consent for certain treatments.

A second person we spoke with had been going the practice for around 30 years and they too were happy with the service and staff. They were attending the practice with their marital partner and they too were happy with the service. The person confirmed the dentist would clearly explain their intended treatment and envisaged outcome.
