People told us that they had been involved in their treatment and had been kept fully informed of their treatment and orthodontic appliance options. This and the other evidence inspected showed us that people’s privacy, dignity and independence were respected by this service.

The treatment records reviewed were comprehensive and had been signed by the patient and their orthodontist. This meant that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

Staff told us that they were confident that they would recognise and know what action to take if they observed any potential abuse. This showed us that the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

The premises were clean and well maintained. We noted that infection control guidance was followed and that decontamination equipment was appropriately used. This meant that people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed and they were being cared for in a clean and hygienic environment.

Those treatment records seen demonstrated that individual orthodontic treatments were reviewed and discussed with the person who used the service. This showed us that the provider had an effective system to assess and monitor the quality of the professional services being provided.

Patients told us that they received the treatment they wanted in an efficient and organised way. They told us they were fully involved in decision making about their treatment and were confident in discussing any issues with the staff.

Patients said that they always found the environment was very clean and staff always wore the right protective equipment when treating them. They also said that staff asked that patients use protective glasses and bibs during treatment.

One patient said “I am particularly concerned about cleanliness. I cannot fault this place. It’s spotless.”
