19th November 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit on 19 November 2013 we spoke with three patients, a dentist, the practice manager and three staff. Prior to our visit, we phoned eight patients and spoke with them about their experiences at Marlborough Dental Surgery.

Patients told us,

"I like the way they're managed, it's the best dentist I've ever been to."

"The quality of care is excellent, X is an extremely good dentist, and Y is also very good."

"I'm confident what is being done to my teeth is necessary and being done well."

The reception staff and dental nurses are "Very professional and very friendly."

We looked at treatment records. We were satisfied treatment met the needs of patients, and choices had been fully explained.

We looked at cleanliness and infection prevention measures. The treatment rooms were very clean and we observed good infection prevention practice. People told us their experiences were that the practice was always clean.

We checked a sample of staff records. We were satisfied the service had recruited trained staff, and recruitment practice had met the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.

We saw the service had good systems in place to monitor and assess the quality of service provided.
