27th November 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

On the day of our inspection we spoke with one person attending the practice.

The patient told us how consent was obtained. “We discussed a few things and the dentist gave me options and what he thought might be useful. I received written information which was very detailed. I took it home to think about it. I have just signed to agree to the treatment offered.” This meant consent was sought before treatment began.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. The patient we spoke with told us, “The co-ordination between the dentist and hygienist is exceptionally good.” This meant people were happy with the care, treatment and support the service provided.

Flowcharts displayed gave local safeguarding adults and children reporting procedures and local contact numbers. This showed there were clear procedures for staff to follow to enable them to respond appropriately to suspected or actual abuse.

Training records showed staff members had undertaken relevant training specific to their job roles. Staff received in-house training, attended staff meetings and received annual appraisals. This showed staff members received appropriate training and professional development.

The practice opened on Saturdays in response to patient feedback. This showed the practice sought the views of people who used the service and acted on them.
