28th January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People we spoke with told us they were respected and treated well. We found treatment was planned and delivered in a way that ensured people's safety and welfare. People we spoke with all confirmed when they visited their dentist they went through their medical history with them and asked them about their current medication.

People told us they could express their views and were involved in making decisions about their treatment. One person we spoke with said “the dentist explains everything and also gives written information to you about your treatment. The dentist is very nice and polite.” Another person told us “I am very happy with the treatments and they explain everything before anything is done”.

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse. There was a safeguarding policy in place for the protection of vulnerable children and adults. All staff had attended training in safeguarding.

We saw people would have their comments and complaints listened to and acted on, without the fear they would be discriminated against for making a complaint. Complaints were resolved at the point of contact, which meant the practice encouraged a culture of support and openness.
