10th October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit we spoke with four people who used the service, three dental nurses, two dentists, one receptionist and the practice manager. People we spoke with told us they were satisfied with the information they received. One person told us that they received a full explanation of treatment whenever it was needed.

We observed that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people’s safety and welfare. One person told us, “The staff treat me with respect and dignity”.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

There were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies and effective infection control systems were maintained to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. One person told us; “They (staff) make coming to the dentist a relaxing experience.”

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. Results from the October 2012 customer satisfaction audit indicated people were pleased with the service they received. One comment made by a person included; “Excellent clinical and professional attitudes to patient”. Another comment was, “As a new patient for nine months, I cannot see any areas to improve on”.
