22nd January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People who use the service were given appropriate information regarding their care or treatment. Printed information was available on the various dental conditions and treatments. Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. People’s dental needs were assessed before any treatment was planned.

People we spoke with during our inspection were satisfied with the overall care and treatment they had received. One said they trusted their dentist and found staff ''really helpful.'' Another said their felt their dentist was ''fantastic.'' One said on one occasion they needed an emergency appointment and felt staff had reacted to this straightaway.

There were systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. The practice appeared clean and well maintained on the day of the inspection. There was an infection control policy and an infection control lead who was responsible for ensuring that all protocols were followed.

Staff meetings were used as an opportunity to discuss specific topics. For example in October 2013 patient care pathways were discussed with staff.

The principal dentist was the complaints lead in the practice. The complaints policy was displayed in the reception area and visible to people using the service.
