1st January 1970 - During a themed inspection looking at Learning Disability Services pdf icon

We visited the Star Unit, which is a ward for people with learning disabilities and mental health problems at the location, Mossley Hill hospital. There were four patients staying at The Star Unit when we visited. A further three patients were on leave from the unit on the days we visited. We met and spoke to four of the patients to get their views of the service. Three of the patients had limited communication but they said they like the staff on the unit and talked about some of the activities they were involved in.

Relatives of patients were pleased with the care provided and said that staff were willing to talk to them and explain what care would be given to their family member. Relatives felt involved with the care and able to ask any questions.
