22nd January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People’s dignity was respected. During our inspection, we heard dentists, dental nurses and reception staff interact with patients. They were respectful, personable and communicative.

Patients we spoke with were positive about the quality of care and treatment received. One patient referred to the practice as providing a “good service” whilst another patient told us that staff were “efficient and professional.”

Staff we spoke with demonstrated an understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. They were able to describe possible types of abuse such as physical abuse, emotional abuse and dental neglect. They knew how and to whom they would report a safeguarding alert.

Staff explained the process to be followed to ensure that dental instruments were properly cleaned and sterilised. They were aware of Department of Health guidance on storage of cleaned dental instruments.
