30th April 2014 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made
This was a follow up inspection to the one we carried out in January 2014. During the inspection in January 2014 we identified concerns about how the provider's records were managed and secured. During this inspection we found that the provider had made suitable improvements. We found that patient records were held securely, people's medical conditions were updated and a recruitment policy had been implemented. We also found that the infection control policy had been updated and cleaning records were suitably maintained. We looked at the arrangements that were in place with Water Eaton Health Centre to deal with foreseeable medical emergencies and found that these were adequate.
24th January 2014 - During a routine inspection
We spoke with one person who used the service. They told us that they were nervous of visiting the dentist but they were always made to feel comfortable and were involved in making decisions about their treatment. We found that people were provided with information about the service and were involved in their treatment planning. People were treated with dignity and respect and were provided with treatment plans. We found that arrangements were in place to deal with foreseeable medical emergencies. The practice had measures in place to limit the risk of cross contamination and infection control and completed checks on new staff to ensure they were suitable for their role. We found there was a suitable complaints procedure in place and complaints were handled effectively. We found that improvements were required to how records were maintained. This included the security of people's records, and ensuring adequate records were maintained of verbal conversations and actions the provider already took.
