24th January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with two people who were using the service. Each person expressed favourable comments about the service, one person told us "I was given lots of information and my treatment plan options were discussed with me." They added, "I felt fully involved." Another person told us, "I have been coming here for many years and have great confidence in the dentist."

We were shown records which were completed in relation to each person's treatment and included evidence of what was discussed and agreed, as well as signed consent forms.

We observed staff interaction with people who were using the service. The receptionist was polite and responded positively to questions asked by patients.

We spoke to three members of staff and asked if they had received supervision and an appraisal. They told us that they had the opportunity to receive training and had appraisal and we saw records which confirmed this.

There were processes in place to monitor infection control practices and arrangements for decontaminating surgical equipment. The service used a range of methods to monitor the quality of its services, including collecting the views of people who used it
