13th March 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People who use the service told us, "The staff are friendly", "They explain what the process and procedure would be" and, "They are very gentle and caring".

We observed the staff and saw and heard them treat people with dignity and respect. People told us they were offered choices of appointments and treatment and consent was obtained from them before treatment commenced. The doors to rooms were closed when treatment was taking place.

People were greeted and escorted to and from the treatment room and the treatment and charges were fully explained.

Staff explained and demonstrated how they decontaminate and sterilise equipment after use. We saw that equipment was serviced and maintained in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines.

The premises appeared clean and tidy. However, we did not see a cleaning policy or procedure and cleaning equipment was not stored in accordance with recommended guidelines. This meant the provider could not be assured that the premises had been cleaned appropriately. The provider told us that they would address these issues.
