21st June 2013 - During an inspection in response to concerns pdf icon

We spoke with eight patients during our inspection. All of whom commented positively about the treatment they had received, their comments included, “I can only speak very highly of the practice.”, “Very good overall.” and “They are improving all the time.”

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received and there was an effective complaints system available.

26th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with five people who were visiting the practice for examination and/or treatment. Comments received were mostly positive and included, “I am pleasantly surprised” and “I have recommended my friend leave the private practice and come here”. However we also received information both before and during the inspection about patient’s experience of treatment at the practice that was of concern.

We found, people’s privacy (,) and dignity were respected and people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and appropriate emergency medication was available. However we noted at times that communication from dentists towards patients was limited and formal.

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

However, we found, people were not sufficiently protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had not been followed and the working conditions within the decontamination room were not reasonable as adequate ventilation had not been provided.

The provider did not have an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.

The complaints system available was ineffective and we found comments and complaints people made were not responded to appropriately.

You can see our judgements on the front page of this report.
