26th April 2013 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

Since our last inspection, which we carried out on 11 December 2012, improvements had now been made in the recruitment and selection of members of staff. We found that there was an improved checking system in place to ensure these improvements were maintained. We also found that required information was now obtained in respect of members of dental staff who were recruited since the service was first registered with the Care Quality Commission in 2011.

Although we did not speak to any person who used the service during this 26 April 2013 inspection, we found that during our last inspection of the service, people who used the service had confidence in the abilities of members of staff.

11th December 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People were provided with a range of written and verbal information about the clinic, including types of treatments, their costs, and the complaints procedure and health and safety advice.

People were very satisfied with the standard and quality of the support, care and treatment they had received. All of the people who we spoke with said that they were treated with dignity and respect. Their dental health and well being was promoted due to the way they were treated.

There were effective infection control and clinical waste management systems in place to protect people who used the service, the public and the environment respectively.

People told us that they had trust and confidence in the competency and skills of staff. However, there were inadequate recruitment systems in place to protect people who used the service from unsuitable staff.

Quality assurance systems were in place to ensure that people received safe dental care and treatment. People also had opportunities to inform the practice about areas where they were doing well and areas where they could improve upon.
