This inspection was a follow-up visit following a full inspection process carried out in November 2012. During the first inspection the practice was found to be compliant in respecting and involving people who used services, care and welfare of people who used services and the provider had ensured there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs.

This inspection looked at compliance in two outcome areas. These were safeguarding people who used services from abuse and cleanliness and infection control procedures.

We found that people who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

People we spoke to told us that the staff were “very friendly” and that the dentists explained the required treatment in a way that was easy to understand. They said they were always seen promptly and not kept waiting, and this was important to them. People told us the practice was able to accommodate same day emergency treatment in a timely fashion and people told us they felt involved in their care. We saw a sample of patient records, including examples of records demonstrating how dentists explained different options in treatment choices and costs.

We observed that information about charges for both NHS and private dentistry was available via the patient information booklet.

You can see our judgement on the front page of this report.
