3rd January 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with seven people who used the service. People said that they were very happy and that they saw the dentist on a regular basis. They confirmed the dentist, dental nurses and dental hygienist always explained what they were doing and what the treatment options were. They told us that staff were approachable and that they felt able to ask the dentist questions or make comments about their treatment. One person we spoke with said, “The dentists are excellent they always explain things to me and I have confidence in them.”

People told us that they could always get an appointment and the practice was flexible. During our visit we saw people attending for emergency appointments. We spoke with one person who told us that the practice had fitted them in to see a dentist even though they did not meet the emergency criteria. They told us, “The practice have been very good fitting me in, I know this problem isn’t really an emergency but it is to me and I am very grateful to be seen today.”

We found that people had their privacy and dignity respected.

We found that people were protected from the risk of infection as care was delivered in a clean and hygienic environment.

People were treated and supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

People told us that they felt comfortable in raising a concern or complaint with staff working at the practice.
