As part of this inspection we spoke with five people attending the practice for appointments, the registered manager, the receptionist, three dental nurses, two dentists and a visiting dental nurse trainer/assessor.

People told us they were happy with the service provided. One person described the practice as “well organised.” A child who had undergone treatment told us they “enjoyed” visiting the dentist.

Records showed staff sought people's consent before treatment began. Records also demonstrated people were well informed about options available to them. People were provided with a treatment plan and an estimate of the costs. We saw information on costs was available for people in the reception/waiting area. People had the opportunity to discuss their treatment in private away from communal areas, where they might be overheard, if they wished to do so. We observed people were welcomed warmly by all of the staff. We heard people being spoken to in a friendly and courteous manner. People spoke positively about their experiences of the reception and clinical staff. We were told there were no issues with making an appointment.

People told us they were very happy with the standard of cleanliness at the practice. We saw regular infection control audits were completed as recommended in the Department of Health’s guidance HTM01-05.

Systems were in place to respond to any concerns or complaints raised.

16th August 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

On our visit we met with the practice support manager and a manager from another ADP dental practice. The manager for this practice was on leave at the time of our visit. We also met with two dentists, a hygienist and two dental nurses.

We spoke to two people attending the practice for routine check ups. One of them had been attending the practice for “many years”. They said they had always been pleased with the treatment they received and had found the practice to be "good". They told us the receptionists were “helpful and polite”.

Another person was new to the practice and was attending with their children. They said they had to wait a couple of weeks until they could get an appointment to see the dentist. We saw the dental nurse was friendly and welcoming when the family were called into the treatment room.
