9th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with three people using the service, the practice manager and one of the practice nurses. We also looked at records kept in the practice and reviewed the practice’s infection control procedures. People told us they were very happy with the care and treatment they received. One person said “they are very, very good. I’ve been coming here for years and have recommended the dentist to many people.” Another person said “the dentist is very patient and always explains exactly what needs to happen.”

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. We saw that people had a treatment plan, medical history and consent form that were updated at each appointment.

The provider had infection control systems in place and procedures were followed and recorded by staff working in the surgery. Regular infection control audits were completed to make sure that people were treated safely.

The provider followed staff recruitment procedures to make sure that appropriate staff were appointed. All clinical staff working in the surgery were qualified and professionally registered. However, the provider may wish to note that the practice manager was unable to evidence that references had been obtained for the staff working in the practice.

There were systems in place for responding to complaints and people using the service told us they felt confident the practice would investigate and resolve any concerns they had.
