20th June 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with five people using the service and all said they were happy with their treatment and the way the practice was run. They told us the dentists always discussed treatment options and the costs before any treatment was carried out. One person said “I’ve never had any problems with my treatment. I ask a lot of questions and they are very patient.”

We looked at the records for seven people using the service. We saw that people agreed to their treatment and their medical history and treatment plans were updated at each appointment. People told us they were given a copy of their treatment plan for information. One person said “they always ask if there’s been any change in my health before I see the dentist.”

The provider had infection control systems in place and procedures were followed and recorded by staff working in the surgery. Regular infection control audits were completed to make sure that people were treated safely. One person told us “it’s always very clean and hygienic.”

The provider followed staff recruitment procedures to make sure that appropriate staff were appointed. All clinical staff working in the surgery were qualified and professionally registered.

There were effective systems in place for managing complaints and people using the service told us they felt confident the provider would investigate and resolve any concerns they had.
