15th March 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

As part of our inspection on this service we spoke with five people working at the service including the provider and the practice manager. We spoke with two dental nurses and an associate dentist.

We were not able to speak with any people who used the service as the practice was not open to patients at the time of our visit.

The staff we spoke with, who were employed by the practice, were all happy with the terms and conditions of their employment and described a robust recruitment procedure to us. They were able to evidence to us that their on-going professional development was being supported by the practice and they told us that they enjoyed working at the surgery. None of the staff we spoke with had any criticism to make about the care and treatment being delivered. One dental nurse said: "I really like working here. I really like the practice. It's a good practice. The patients have been coming here for years." They went on to comment that: "I've never been to a dentist that gives out so much dietary advice."

The provider showed us the policies, procedures and practices used by the surgery in relation to the outcome areas we inspected. We found that these were adequately recorded and maintained to ensure that safe and appropriate care and treatment was being delivered at the practice.
