We spoke with people who used the Open Minds service and we visited two locations. Open Minds provides care and support for people who are experiencing common mental health problems. People confirmed they had given their consent for treatment. One person said, “I came in and self-referred; the therapist told me how brave I was to self-refer; I did sign a contract and I was given leaflets today.”

People we spoke with were positive about the service and this was supported by survey responses we reviewed. One person said, “I see a therapist every week; they are very helpful; I find Open Minds a big help in going through every week step by step; the two services I have been to are both brilliant place to go and get help; I find Open Minds fantastic for people like me.” However, another person told us, “I am starting therapy today but I was disappointed that I had to wait four weeks.”

People spoke positively about the cleanliness of the service. Comments included, “I think the cleanliness is very good,” “Cleanliness is fine,” and “I think it is very clean and tidy.”

People were positive about the staff that worked with them and this was supported by survey responses we reviewed. One person told us, “The staff are really nice and very professional.”

People we asked about complaints told us, “I don’t have any complaints; I think it is great so far,” “I saw there was a notice about the complaints procedure,” and “I know there is a box in reception for complaints.”
