11th December 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our inspection we spoke with four people who used the service, all three dentists, two out of the three dental nurses and the receptionist. We also looked at four treatment records of people who used the service.

People spoken with had no complaints about the service provided and they spoke highly of the dentists they visited. Some comments from people were; “I don’t think there is anything negative I could say”, the dentist is “very nice, pleasant and gentle”, “they are a fabulous dentist, very caring and very good technically” and “I would recommend my dentist to anyone, good dentist and nice person”.

The practice had systems in place to monitor its infection control practices to ensure they were following current appropriate guidance. Staff were aware of how to recognise signs of abuse and what action to take if they were concerned. All staff told us they felt well supported and equipped to carry out their role to an appropriate standard.

People could express their views and were involved in making decisions about their treatment. The practice had arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies. People’s treatment records showed the planning and delivery of treatment that met people’s needs.
