31st May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

The people we spoke with using the surgery confirmed that the dentist, dental nurses, hygienist and therapist always explained what they were doing, what was found during their examinations and the treatment options available. People confirmed they had received information to enable them to decide upon treatment options and knew what the costs would be. People told us that they were "Very happy" with the service they received and that the practice provided "Excellent" and "Superb care". People told us they would "Happily recommend this practice" and one person said they had done so, although they knew there was a waiting list.

We found that there were infection control measures in place to protect people from the risk of infection and appropriate guidance had been followed. Surgical instruments were cleaned and stored correctly. Emergency care could be given because staff had been trained in what to do in medical emergencies. The dentist and dental nurses were appropriately trained and supported to give good standards of care and treatment.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service people received. People we spoke with told us that they did participate in the satisfaction surveys to get their views and we were told "I am asked every time I have treatment if I am happy."

Patients confirmed that the practice always appeared very clean and fresh and that staff always used protective equipment when treating them.
