28th May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

On the day of our inspection we met with the provider and practice manager. We spoke with three people who used the service and two members of staff. We observed that people were treated in private and involved in making decisions about their treatment. Treatment plans and costs were written down for patients and recorded electronically. We toured the premises and were satisfied that people received safe and effective treatment in a clean environment.

We saw that the risks of cross infection were reduced by following effective infection control procedures. Staff we spoke with felt well supported and records showed that they received appropriate training and development. The service had systems in place to identify and manage risk and audit quality.

Comments from people we spoke with included the following:

“The dentist is such a lovely person, so precise with keeping you informed and also of the cost and what they’re doing”

“I don’t wait too long, at the most ten minutes”

“I get lots of advice on oral hygiene and to see the hygienist or not to see the hygienist if the teeth look clean”

“The dentist is very good at explaining what the problem is and what the best option would be”

“I’ve got such trust in my dentist, I’ve never been nervous”

“I would highly recommend it”
