7th November 2012 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People told us that staff explained all the procedures and treatments to them and respected their decisions about their treatment and care. One person said, "always been the case, I knew it was a check up. The first thing they (dentist) asked me was if my medical condition had changed” and “they advise different treatments. He’s a very caring person, knows me by first name and my wife’s.”

People who used the service told us they were happy with the care and treatment they received at the practice. One person said, "excellent, always very good. My whole family come here, always very friendly and I’ve never had any problems” and “excellent service.”

We found people received care and treatment in a clean environment with infection control measures in place to minimise the risk of infection. People we spoke with told us the unit was always clean and tidy. One person told us the surgery was “excellent.” Another said, “never seen anything for concern.” However, we found that there were areas of non compliance with the infection control standards.

The provider had a satisfactory recruitment and selection procedure in place to ensure that staff were appropriately employed.

The provider had an appropriate system in place for gathering, recording and evaluating information about the quality and safety of care the service provides. People who used the service and their representatives were asked for their views about their care and treatment.
