5th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with the dentist, the two other members of staff working on the day of the inspection and four people who used the service. The dentist was the provider and owned the practice. We looked at ten patient records.

The people we spoke with told they were satisfied with the service. One person said "the dental service is very good. All the staff are polite. I'm very satisfied with the treatment. Another person we spoke with told us "the dentist is good with children. It's friendly they remember my name. The dentist is very good at explaining what needs to be done."

People told us they were involved in their treatment planning and understood the costs of their treatment. People said they had no problems getting appointments including emergency treatments.

We found the provider had systems to ensure treatment was safe and effective. The practice had the appropriate emergency equipment and drugs to manage emergencies. The radiation equipment was regularly serviced and had appropriate supporting documentation. People's records were comprehensive and included information to inform staff about the treatments provided. Staff received regular training and support.

People told us they were satisfied with the cleanliness of the practice. We found the practice to be clean, with the relevant procedures in place to maintain cleanliness and prevent infection.

The provider had an effective system in place to monitor the quality of the service.
