8th January 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit to Poynters Road Dental practice on the afternoon of 8 January 2013 we spoke with two people and read a variety of comments that people had written about the surgery. People confirmed they were treated respectfully by all the staff and were involved in the plan for any treatment that needed to be undertaken. One person said, “He (the dentist) tells me what he is doing all the time." The records that we looked at and the conversations we had with people confirmed that treatment options were discussed with the person using the service.

The Practice had sufficient processes in place to ensure that treatment was delivered safely. People told us that they felt the treatment areas were clean. All areas of the centre were clean and tidy and there were robust infection control processes in place to ensure people were treated safely.

The records we saw confirmed that all of the staff working out of Poynters Road Dental practice had been correctly employed and inducted and the provider had ensured, by carrying out the necessary pre-employment checks, that they were suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.

People told us they would be confident to make a complaint if it were necessary and we saw that people were given the appropriate information to do so.
