12th September 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with four patients who used the practice over the telephone. We also observed one patient consultation. All the patients we spoke with were happy with the care and treatment they received. One patient said, "I think they do an excellent job." Another said, "It's very good. Excellent." They all said that the dentists explained treatment options to them and they felt well informed.

During the patient consultation we saw that the dentist explained what he was doing throughout. We observed that staff treated people politely and with respect.

Patients told us that they knew how much their treatment would cost. However, we found that not all patients were provided with written treatment plans which set out the costs.

We found that the provider had procedures in place to safeguard children and vulnerable adults and that staff were aware of their roles and responsibilities in relation to this. However, not all staff had been subject to employment checks that would help ensure they were suitable to work with children or vulnerable adults.

We found that the practice had a system in place for controlling the risk of infection. All of the patients we spoke with said that they felt the dental practice was clean and hygienic. One person said, "It's always very clean and tidy."
