9th May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke privately with two patients who were attending the practice for treatment. Patients told us that the dentist explained all the procedures and treatments to them and respected their decisions about their treatment and care. Their comments included: "He (the dentist) explains all the different treatment options available, the risks and benefits of the different treatment options so I can choose what treatment I want.” “He (the dentist) will cost it out (treatment) and explain it.”

All the patients we spoke with were very satisfied with the care, support and treatment they had received and they made very positive comments about the staff. Their comments included: “The care and treatment I have received is excellent.” “All the work I have had done I have benefited from.”

We found patients received care and treatment in a clean environment with infection control measures in place to minimise the risk of infection. We saw that the practice facilities were clean and well maintained.

All staff that we spoke with were clear about their responsibilities and had the relevant qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience to carry out their role. Staff spoken with said that they undertook regular training to maintain and update their skills and knowledge.

We saw that the provider had an appropriate system in place for gathering, recording and evaluating information about the quality and safety of care the service provided.
