6th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People we spoke with told us they felt fully informed about and were also able to ask questions about the treatment they received. One person said, "The dentist gives me all the options. If there any costs, I am told how much it will be.”

The people we spoke with about their experiences of the care and treatment told us that they received a thorough examination when they first attended.

Staff we spoke with told us they had received training about medical emergencies and also received regular updates. We reviewed records which showed all x-ray equipment had been serviced at the required intervals and all staff had been trained in the use of the equipment.

People we spoke with all told us that they thought the premises and treatment rooms were clean. One person said, “I have always found the practice clean.”

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place. Records showed dentists and dental hygienists had taken out appropriate indemnity insurance. We saw the indemnity insurance for the dental nurses which was taken out by the provider on their behalf.

People who used the service told us they had confidence in and trusted the staff. One person said, “The practice has done really well since XXX took over; I can’t praise it enough.”

We saw the practice's current complaints procedure which was displayed in the waiting room. We noted the practice had a complaints log which detailed any resulting actions and who was responsible for them.
