24th October 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We carried out this inspection to check on the treatment of people. Following the inspection we conducted telephone interviews with four people. On the day of the inspection we spoke with one dental nurse, the receptionist, the practice manager and the dentist who was also the registered manager and owner.

The practice consisted of a reception/waiting area, two treatment rooms, a decontamination area and a toilet that was not suitable for people who used a wheelchair. All these facilities were provided on the ground floor. The practice had the use of a mobile ramp to support people to gain access to the practice.

We found that records showed that people's consent was recorded appropriately. One person said, "Everything is explained to me before I give my consent".

People told us that the treatment they received was what they had agreed to. We found that treatment plans had identified the treatment and discussions held with people. One person said, "The service I get is fantastic".

We found the environment to be clean and tidy. The provider had a system in place to ensure people were treated in a safe manner and potential cross infection was reduced.

The provider ensured that all staff were check appropriately and were suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.

The provider had systems in place to allow people to complain and share their views in a range of ways.
