23rd March 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We visited the clinic and spoke with three therapists and the manager. We did not speak to any people using the service on the day. We did telephone and speak to three people after the visit.

We looked at people’s records and we found that there were copies of signed consent forms and treatment plans. The manager told us "We always complete a full assessment and then once treatment is agreed, the person and the therapist sign the forms." One person who had used the clinic told us "I was given the information, alternatives and once I agreed we signed the forms" and "I was given a copy of this with information about the treatment".

We found that the clinic was clean, tidy and met with the infection control regulations. There were policies and procedures for ensuring that the clinic was kept clean. There were no records to show when or who had done this. The provider may find it useful to note that it is good practice to keep records of activities carried out.

We spoke with three therapists during the visit. One told us "I have worked here for two years, the training is good and we receive yearly up dated training” another told us "I have recently started working for Sk:n and the induction is very good".

Another person who had used the service told us "The treatment is very good, I would not use them if I did not think they were good" and another said "I am very happy with the treatment, no concerns at all"
