18th August 2014 - During an inspection to make sure that the improvements required had been made pdf icon

We, the Care Quality Commission, last inspected this practice in July 2013. We found the practice was not meeting requirements in relation to cleanliness and infection control and requirements relating to workers.

Following the inspection the provider sent us an action plan explaining how they would meet the regulations.

At this visit we inspected to make sure this action plan had been completed. We found improvements had been made.

A new decontamination room had been built to make sure the practice was following the guidance to prevent the transmission of infections and to provide clean safe care.

The provider sent us evidence about staff recruitment which had not been available at the previous inspection. There were further plans to make the recruitment and selection process more robust when new staff are recruited.

8th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We phoned the practice to give two working days' notice of our visit. We spoke with four people who used the service by telephone. We toured the premises, spoke with two staff, and the registered provider. We looked at documents relating to the running of the practice.

People told us the staff were “very attentive” and that “they couldn’t do more for you.” Another person told us that it was the “nicest practice, everything is explained to you and the staff are very nice.”

Not all the correct checks had been undertaken when employing staff at the practice so that people were at potential risk of harm from unsuitable staff.

We found that there were systems in place to keep the practice clean and hygienic including effective decontamination of instruments in accordance with guidelines. Training and support were provided to maintain a safe service and regular checks were made on machines and systems to ensure this was maintained.
