5th August 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Quality Dental Care in Bovey Tracey employed three dentists, two hygienists and four dental nurses. There was also a receptionist. The opening times were displayed at the front entrance and in the reception area. An emergency out of hours service for registered patients was available.

We spoke with six people during our visit who attended for treatment. All of them told us that they were very satisfied with the service. One person told us “It’s an excellent service I’d recommend to others.”

The practice had two dental treatment rooms, both of which were located on the first floor. Staff told us that people with limited mobility could be referred to other dental practices nearby.

The practice had measures in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies. However, we found two items in the emergency drugs bag which were past their expiry date.

We spoke with six staff during our visit. All of the staff we spoke with told us that they had received training in safeguarding vulnerable adults and child protection and that they understood how to recognise and report any concerns they had.

The practice was clean and tidy. We found that the practice maintained mandatory standards of infection control.

We found that the practice had checks in place to monitor the quality of care provided. Evidence showed that numerous audits took place. We looked at the results of a survey conducted in July 2013 which showed that people were very satisfied with the service.
