1st March 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent. One person said "The dentist tells you what he is thinking and talks it through in such detail. This is followed up in writing. It's fantastic."

During our inspection we asked people what their experience was like when visiting the dental practice. Comments from people included "I am absolutely thrilled", "It's very good" and "I always have a completely positive experience."

All the people we spoke with, when asked, said they thought the dental practice was clean and had no concerns regarding cleanliness. People said that staff wore protective clothing, such as masks and gloves. During our inspection the dental nurse demonstrated the arrangements for decontamination and sterilisation of equipment from start to finish. This was in the main satisfactory.

Staff received appropriate professional development. We saw evidence that all the staff maintained their registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and were up to date with their continual professional development which is required to maintain their GDC registration.

People we spoke with told us that they had no complaints about the treatment they received at South Park Dental Practice. They all said that they had been with the practice for a considerable amount of time and had never had to make a complaint.
