11th August 2011 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

When we visited, we were able to meet with four parents who were attending a clinic. The clinic was being run by speech and language therapists, a physiotherapist, and a child development practitioner. The parents told us that the staff members they were involved with always explained options to them and helped them to make an informed choice. “The staff are very supportive, helpful and approachable”, “we are very pleased with the service we receive” and “we are provided with a lot of information about the options available to us, to help us make up our minds”.

They told us that the staff provided good explanations about treatment plans and that they were asked to give written consent to treatment programmes.

One parent said that they found it beneficial meeting up with other mum’s who are going through the same sort of things, and another said “I think we are very lucky in Weston super Mare because not all hospitals have the children’s services together on the same site. All the staff who are supporting my child work from Drove Road”.
