18th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

We spoke with four people who use the service, three members of staff and the provider during this inspection.

People told us that they were happy with the services provided and said "very good, the dentist explains what needs doing and what is involved in the treatment", "they make the fees clear", "they tell me what to do to keep my teeth in good order", "it's no problem to get an appointment, they always fit you in", "the place is always clean" and "the dentist is good, they know I am nervous and make me feel at ease". People said that their privacy was maintained and staff spoke with them appropriately. People we spoke with had not made a complaint but said they would speak to the dentist if necessary.

Staff were happy to be working at the practice saying that they worked well together and made patients feel comfy. Staff said they had the training and support they needed to carry out their role. Staff meetings were held regularly and the minutes were made available to the provider. Improvements were needed to formalise the supervision and appraisal systems for staff.

We saw the treatments rooms, decontamination room and reception area were clean and tidy. Reception staff welcomed people when they arrived. Systems were in place for the dentist to monitor the quality of services provided.
