21st May 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

People received care and treatment that ensured their safety and welfare from suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff. Staff had received training and appraisal of their performance. There were arrangements in place to deal with a medical emergency. People were always examined and treated by the dentist and were referred for specialist treatment if necessary. We spoke with one person who used the service who said the clinic was “fabulous” as well as very convenient. We looked at the last report of feedback questionnaires from March 2013 which showed that people were satisfied with the service. People were given sufficient information prior to treatment.

People were cared for in a clean, hygienic environment and the provider monitored the quality of service people received. There were effective decontamination procedures in place, as well as cleaning checklists and regular audits to ensure people were protected from the risk of infection.

The provider collected feedback from people and held regular practice meetings to ensure key messages were disseminated to staff. The practice manager undertook audits and this was in conjunction with the formal contract monitoring of the service by the NHS Commissioners of the service.
