8th July 2013 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

At the time of our inspection our records show that there are two registered managers at Star Orthodontics. This is because the previous manager had not deregistered with CQC at the time of the inspection; therefore their name still remains on any reports until such time that this information is received.

During our inspection we were able, with their consent, to observe people's treatment. People's treatment needs were explained to them and their questions answered fully by the orthodontist.

We looked at the treatment records for seven people. These documented the assessments that were made at a patient's initial visit. These assessments included measurements and visual records such as photographs and models. This meant that the orthodontist could accurately assess people's needs. These records also provided a means of assessing and monitoring the quality and effectiveness of treatment.

The practice had effective procedures in place for the decontamination of equipment. The service had a designated decontamination room. Staff carried out checks of decontaminating equipment to ensure they were working effectively.
