13th February 2014 - During a routine inspection pdf icon

During our visit we spoke to the dentists, the practice manager, dental nurses and people using the service.

We saw that people were given detailed treatment plans with a description of the options, risks and benefits and proposed costs. People we spoke with confirmed they had received information about planned treatment, the costs and were able to ask questions. They had also completed medical history forms which were updated at each appointment and scanned on the computerised patient record.

There were clear procedures in place to ensure the treatment areas were clean and reduced the risk of cross contamination between dirty and clean dental equipment. People we spoke with thought the treatment areas were very clean.

Staff we spoke with felt they had enough support from the management and were confident to ask any questions or raise concerns with them. They also felt that they received a good standard of training and were supported in completing courses for continuing professional development.

People we spoke with were very happy with the treatment they had received. They said "The staff are always polite", "The reception staff are very helpful" and "My dentist is extraordinarily good".
